Monday, October 19th at 6:30 pm at Hallandale High School Broward County School District staff will host a community meeting on school boundary proposals that may affect southeast Broward beginning in the upcoming 2016-17 school year. Presented will be a staff proposal to create a new kindergarten through eighth grade school on the campuses of the current Hallandale Elementary School and Hallandale Adult & Community Center. The meeting will consist of a presentation of the proposals and breakout sessions where District staff will be on hand to answer specific questions regarding the proposals. In this proposal, Gulfstream Middle School students will move to the new K-8 and the current Hallandale Adult & Community Center students will be relocated to the current H.D. Perry Middle School site, which will become the new Adult Center. In conjunction with these moves, there are two proposals to relocate the current H. D. Perry Middle School students to either New Renaissance Middle School and McNicol Middle School or all to New Renaissance Middle School, and a small boundary change from Gulfstream Middle School to Olsen Middle School to align the new feeder patterns. Also presented will be a community proposal to combine the attendance areas of Hollywood Hills Elementary School and Sheridan Hills Elementary School as a kindergarten through eighth grade school on two campuses, with grades kindergarten through two assigned to the Sheridan Hills campus and grades three through five assigned to the Hollywood Hills campus. Grades six through eight remain assigned to Attucks Middle School or Olsen Middle School, but may apply to attend sixth through eighth grade at the Hollywood Hills campus, space permitting. Also included are small boundary changes which move a portion of the Sheridan Hills Elementary School boundary to Sheridan Park Elementary School and a portion of the Hollywood Hills Elementary School boundary to Mary M. Bethune Elementary School. All staff and community boundary proposals for the 2016-17 school year can be found on the Demographics & Student Assignments web site at:
